The original Air-King was introduced as a manual wind model in the 1940's, making the Air-King one of the longest running watches produced by Rolex.
This is the most famous Air-King model and the one that gained it a reputation as a no nonsense rugged timepiece with the famed Rolex 1500 series automatic movement that serves as the base calibre for all older Rolex vintage Chronometers. This is same movement fitted in the Rolex Submariner 5513.
The watch is fitted with an original and brand new factory original black dial, with steel markers. The case, reference 5500, signifing that the watch is fitted with a fabulous smooth polished bezel . The case is in very good condition with a date stamp on the original caseback dating it to 1962, however the serial number dates the watch to 1969.
The watch is supplied on a padded black leather strap, however, genuine Rolex straps and buckles as well as original steel Oyster bracelets are available for this watch, please inquire.
